The UCLM Corporate Customer Services Point demonstrates how important the university-company bond is


Promoting talent and wealth for companies and society is the main goal pursued by the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM) Corporate Customer Services Point, an online platform which provides a personalized service on all campuses at this regional university, which has been presented by the UCLM Chancellor, Miguel Ángel Collado, this morning on the Albacete Campus.

The assembly hall at the International Doctorate School was the venue for the presentation ceremony for the Corporate Customer Services Point (PAE), a platform for the regional university which has arisen from the experience, built up over time of effective collaboration between the industrial fabric in the region and the human and technological capital owned by the university, in order to nurture talent and wealth in companies and society.

The UCLM chancellor, Miguel Ángel Collado, was responsible for giving the presentation and was accompanied by the vice-chancellor for Transference and Innovation, Ángela González, and the president of the Albacete Confederation of Employers-FEDA, who is also vice-chancellor of the Regional Confederation of Castilla-La Mancha Employers-CECAM-, Artemio Pérez.

In the ceremony, which was attended by a large group of members of the university community and the business world, the chancellor stressed how important the bond this regional university has with industry is. “We wish to make that relationship clear via this corporate customer services point which has been inaugurated today in Albacete for all UCLM campuses where it will be provided” said Miguel Ángel Collado, who explained that this new platform will be “a direct door” through which companies can enter the university. “We wish to work directly with companies because we need their help for everything: for their opinions, criteria, practical work, the employability of our youths and, given that work will change so much, we need to be aware of what companies require.

This bond between the university and business will be coordinated via the Vice-chancellorship for Transference and Innovation. In this respect, the vice-chancellor, Ángela González, provided more details of how the new platform, from where the corresponding services will be obtained, will be run. “At just one point, one may access specialized services and innovation technologies connected to training, with practical work experience and also company placements on the request of professionals”, he stated, adding that it is not just a mere online platform, but it also provides a personalized service. There is the necessary university-company interaction, he said, “to be able to redirect the training we are giving and to adapt it to market needs.

On the part of Artemio Pérez, representing the industrial fabric of Albacete and the region, he showed support for this initiative, as, he stated, it will enable “effective collaboration” between the industrial fabric of the province and region with the human capital and technology provided by the UCLM. A union between companies and university which “is always needed”, he said, especially “when innovation is more necessary than ever and the university is a niche of research and innovation which companies need to take advantage of”, stated Artemio Pérez, who reminded us that the experience gained by business owners over recent years may be very valid for transferring it to the university, which will provide innovation. “The university is undoubtedly the springboard where the best future directors of our companies will be trained, nurturing the creation of employment and welfare for society”.

Likewise, Artemio Pérez, reminded us that this PAE joins that which the Albacete Confederation of Employers has had for over ten years. “A corporate customer services point to nurture the creation of new companies. Different, but complementary missions”.
