The UCLM Medicine students gain the third highest place in the 2020/2021 MIR (Resident Medical Intern) results

The faculties of medicine at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) in Ciudad Real and Albacete have published their excellent results for the Resident Medical Intern (MIR) tests with students having achieved the third highest position in Spain in the latest sitting.

Medicine students at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) have gained third place in the national sitting for the Resident Medical Intern (MIR)exams, with some results that have once again vindicated the excellent position for the Albacete and Ciudad Real faculties.

According to the report carried out by the Specialised Healthcare Training Management service (FSE) from the Ministry of Health, 50.2% of medicine students from both faculties of the UCLM are in the strong group, or the 73rd percentile; 41.8% rank in the average group and only 8% are in the weak group or the 27th percentile.

The report also states that 96.4% of students from the Ciudad Real and Albacete faculties who were at the last sitting surpassed the cut-off mark, in contrast to 81% for the total average for all faculties in the country. This places the two medicine faculties in the sixth position out of the 42 medicine faculties in Spain.

These good results from the MIR exams from students from the University of  Castilla-La Mancha justify the high demand for new students to enrol at both centres. The cut-off point for entering both faculties in the 2021/2022 academic year has been set at 13.421 for the Ciudad Real Faculty of Medicine and 13.406 for the Albacete faculty.
The deans of the Albacete and Ciudad Real faculties, Sílvia Llorens Folgado and Inmaculada Ballesteros Yañez, respectively, have expressed how proud they are of the results of their students in the MIR tests. In their view, these marks endorse the training model at both centres. At the same time, they “reflect the effort the professionals have made who year after year train our students at the two faculties to be the doctors of the future. Of course, they also praised the great work and hope the students themselves have shown to become great professionals”.
