The UCLM will design two new Master´s Excellence within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus initiative

30/09/2022

The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) has received funding for the two projects submitted to the 2022 Erasmus Mundus Design Measures from the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture coordinated respectively by the Ciudad Real and Cuenca campuses. They will firstly address conservation medicine and, secondly, the sustainable management of tourism businesses.

The European Executive Agency for Education and Culture has awarded the UCLM two projects from the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures in the 2022 call, whose resolution was published at the end of July. It concerns two applications submitted by this institution to this call. Apart from the  total funds which surpasses one hundred thousand euros are  the funds from the 2021 call for the project, which is being carried out at the Toledo campus coordinated by the research group GENUD focused on mobility and active ageing.

The main objective of the Mundus Design Measures is to promote the implementation of new, and innovative transnational study programmes with a high degree of integration at a Master´s level. These design measures must involve EU state members and third countries associated with the programme, institutions from these countries or underrepresented topics in Erasmus Mundus.

The first of these projects funded in 2022 is DIANA, which is coordinated by the Ciudad Real campus by researchers from the Research Institute in Hunting Resources (IREC) whose aim is to launch a Master´s in Conservation Medicine. This global programme, whose design has involved the universities of Oporto (Portugal) and Dublin (Ireland), addresses conservation medicine with a focus on conserving biodiversity and the sustainable use of agriculture and natural resources, both in industrialised countries and in developing ones.

The second project funded by the call this year is coordinated by professors from the Cuenca Faculty of  Social Sciencess attached to the departments of Business Administration and Applied Economics I. It aims to design a Master´s in  the Sustainable Management of Tourism Businesses together with the University of Florence (Italy) and the Academy of Economics Studies in Bucharest( Romania).
