The Toledo Faculty of Humanities has obtained the seal of European Year of Cultural Heritage

24/04/2018

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has granted the Toledo Faculty of Humanities the seal of European Year of Cultural Heritage, which will run throughout 2018 with the slogan ‘Our heritage: where the past meets the future’. Within the framework of the initiative, spearheaded by the European Union to emphasise the diversity of cultural heritage throughout the whole of Europe, the centre has organized a wide range of communication programmes, which have been added to its educational and scientific ones which it has great experience in.

The European Year of Cultural Heritage, promotes the spread of the value of heritage when building a feeling of belonging to a common European area. In this context, the Toledo Faculty of Humanities has organized specific activities which show “the commitment the centre has to heritage and culture, as well as the progress made in training and research in these areas”, the dean, Rebeca Rubio, said.

Moreover, the centre promotes communication, creating an area “for collective reflection aimed at students and professionals, but open to the public in general”. Amongst other activities related to the event, the “Heritage Forum” will be held until November with the support of the Toledo Council, during which issues such as sustainability, innovation, protection or diversity will be covered.

The Toledo Faculty of Humanities has called for participants for this European event “to highlight our rich cultural heritage to engage as widespread an audience as possible and make a contribution towards preserving a valuable legacy for our society”.
