Biography

Dr. Mario Gutiérrez Tovar earned his BS and MS degrees from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM, Spain) in 2012 and 2014, respectively. He completed his PhD in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Abderrazzak Douhal (Femtoscience and Microscopy Group, UCLM). His doctoral research focused on the ultrafast characterization and photonic applications of novel luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs).

In 2019, he joined the Multifunctional Materials and Composites Lab (MMC Lab, Department of Engineering Science) at the University of Oxford (United Kingdom) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, under the direction of Prof. Jin-Chong Tan. There, he continued his work on LMOFs, synthesizing and characterizing new materials with potential applications in healthcare sensors and advanced optoelectronic devices (MOF-LEDs).

In 2021, Dr. Gutiérrez Tovar returned to the Femtoscience and Microscopy Group (Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Biochemistry, Toledo, UCLM) as an Assistant Professor. At the beginning of 2024, he secured a permanent position as an Associate Professor.
