Dr. Mario Gutiérrez Tovar obtained his BS and MS degrees from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM, Spain) in 2012 and 2014, respectively. He completed his PhD on nanoscience and nanotechnology under the supervision of Prof. Abderrazzak Douhal (Femtochemistry and Microscopy Group, UCLM) in 2017. His thesis was focused on the ultrafast characterization and photonic applications of new luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs).

After that, in 2019, he joined as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Multifunctional Materials and Composites Lab (MMC Lab, Department of Engineering Science), led by Prof. Jin-Chong Tan, at the prestigious University of Oxford (United Kingdom). During that period, he continued working with LMOFs by synthesising and characterising new materials with promising applications in the field of sensors (healthcare purposes) and more efficient optoelectronic devices (MOF-LEDs).

He has recently (2021) re-joined the Femtochemistry and Microscopy Group (Toledo, UCLM) as an Associate Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher.
