Legalization of foreign documents and qualifications for validity in Spain.
By means of legalization, the signatures of the authorities a document bears are validated as authentic. For academic qualifications or transcripts, legalization generally consists of recognition of the signature of the educational authority issuing the original document (not of the authority that certified or translated it).

Official translation of documents
Documents issued abroad must be accompanied by an official translation into Spanish. An official translation may be furnished:
- By a sworn translator who is duly authorized or registered in Spain.
- By any diplomatic or consular representation of Spain abroad.
- By the diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the country of which the applicant is a citizen or, if applicable, of the country of origin of the document.
- By an official foreign translator whose signature is duly legalized.

A power of attorney is an administrative act by which an interested person can designate another person, natural or legal, to act on their behalf in certain procedures or actions before the public authorities.
The Electronic Registry of Powers of Attorney of the Public Authority (REA-AGE), held by the Spanish government, allows the registration of powers of attorney that persons grant to others to act on their behalf electronically or in person before the Public Authority (AGE) and its public bodies, and dependent or related public law entities.
