DESIGNATION OF COSUPERVISORS OR CHANGES IN SUPERVISION OR TUTORING OF A DOCTORAL THESIS

In this procedure, on changes to the professors involved in the supervision of a thesis as tutor or supervisor/cosupervisor, according to the written undertaking of supervision (CDS), two situations may arise:

 

A. Addition of cosupervisor(s) for the doctoral thesis.

This is the case in which, after the written undertaking of supervision has been accepted by the doctoral candidate and by the tutor and the supervisor designated at admission, it is desired to designate up to two further cosupervisors for the thesis, without changes to the existing data.

 

B. Changes in the current professors supervising a doctoral thesis.

This covers any other case in which a request is made to change any of the current supervisors (tutor, supervisor and, if applicable, cosupervisor(s)), or change their roles. When filling in the application form, it will be necessary to detail the starting situation (the current supervisors of the thesis and their roles) and the final situation requested (repeating, if necessary, the data of those who remain).

 

In either case it is the doctoral candidate who must submit the application, on the UCLM website, following the procedure linked at the top of this page, which can be accessed either with an electronic signature or with the usual UCLM credentials. A user manual for the procedure can also be found at the same address.

  • Prior to starting the process, the doctoral candidate must obtain the CDS acceptance document from the professors who are to join or change their role in the thesis supervision team, using the form linked below, to attach it to the application. If this is an electronically signed PDF it is sufficient to attach it to the application. In any other case, you must comply with the instructions in the forms section of this website regarding admissible signature systems.
  • In addition, the doctoral candidate must obtain the agreement of all those involved (current and proposed, incoming or outgoing) and this should be indicated in the appropriate section of the application form. However, the EID reserves the right to carry out its own verification.

Acceptance of the Written Undertaking of Supervision by the new thesis supervisors or tutors

 

The procedure will result in a decision by the academic committee of the doctoral programme to authorize  or refuse the proposed change, which will be recorded in the application file on the website, then entered into the student’s  record so that it can be checked in RAPI by both the candidate and his/her supervisors.
