The International Doctorate School of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (EID-UCLM) organizes the UCLM Doctoral Day, especially aimed at doctoral candidates from UCLM and other Spanish or foreign universities who request participation. The rest of our academic community and members of research centres are also invited.
This event complies with the regulations (Royal Decree 99/2011) governing Doctoral Studies, which require Doctoral Schools to plan activities inherent to the transversal training of doctoral candidates.
Its objectives are:
- To disseminate the research of the doctoral candidates from its programmes and spread it to the rest of the university community, the productive sector and society in general.
- To help PhD students to improve their ability to present the results of their doctoral theses.
To promote new ideas for future research topics in the various fields of knowledge.
- To become a meeting place for exchange for experiences and opinions among doctoral candidates about the development of doctoral training.
- To acknowledge PhD candidates’ research by the awarding of diverse prizes.
The programme usually includes a lecture, a network event between doctoral candidates and recent doctoral graduates from different disciplines, and a roundtable.
Doctoral candidates may participate in the PhD Day with a poster on their research work and an abstract to be included in the Proceedings.
Two prizes will be awarded for the best posters in each field of knowledge, and their awardees will be eligible to compete in the subsequent Doctoral Days organized by the G-9, a group of universities that are the only public ones in their regions. In recent editions, prizes have also been awarded for the best posters related to the Circular Economy (by the UCLM Endowed Chair of Circular Economy) and Equality and Diversity (by the UCLM Equality and Diversity Unit).
