Fernando Langa de la Puente, professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), is acknowledged by the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry with one of its 2017 Research Excellence Awards. In addition to this award, it can be added the one granted in 2016 by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) of Great Britain, who named 'fellow' the Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Biochemistry and director of the Institute of Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, and Molecular Materials (INAMOL, Instituto de Nanociencia, Nanotecnología y Materiales Moleculares ).
After joining the select group of members of the RSC who hold the rank of 'fellow' for their contributions to chemistry, Professor Langa has received on April the highest recognition of the RSEQ, which has awarded prizes to twenty scientists from Spain, France, Hungary, Germany, and Portugal this year.
Professor Langa currently runs a scientific network composed of around ten research groups and coordinated by UCLM. Moreover, it is funded by the National Programme for Fostering Excellence in Scientific and Technical Research, from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MINECO, Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad.) The network is developing the action 'Chemical modification of graphene for new properties and applications (GRAPAS)', and it is composed of groups of great prestige of the Complutense University of Madrid, Autonomous University of Madrid, Valencia, Malaga, Miguel Hernández, Polytechnic University of Valencia and The Basque Country.
