SOUND CHRONICLES. MPDS AUDIO ARCHIVE

In May 2025, the MIDECIANT hosted the Sound Chronicles gathering. Now, the photographs from that event appear in a new publication that combines the best of a physical book and a record format. This publication features major figures such as Alvin Curran, Chris Burden, Maurizio Nannucci, Jonas Mekas, La Monte Young, and others.

This initiative seeks to recover contemporary sound memory. The MPDS Audio Archive (Mario Pieroni and Dora Stiefelmeier) is a sound archive that currently contains more than 2,600 audio files by over 200 artists who have worked from the 1960s to the present day. The collection includes sound works such as interviews, field recordings, radio broadcasts, and audio documentation of events, concerts, and exhibitions.

It has been a pleasure for MIDECIANT to take part in this collaboration.
