Social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok receive an average of over a million comments per minute on new posts, whether these are photos, news articles or videos. Within this context, it is common to find opinions or posts about controversial or sensitive news stories that can fuel online hate among those affected. Against this backdrop, on Wednesday 15 April we held a session for students at IES Parque Lineal on critical thinking and the harm that such messages can cause, helping to strengthen young students’ social-emotional skills in dealing with this kind of discourse and promoting alternative narratives.
