I studied Biology at the University of
Granada, Spain, where I obtained my degree in 1988 and my PhD in
1994. My Thesis work was carried out at the Estación Experimental de Zonas
Áridas (CSIC) in Almería, my homeland,
on maternal behaviour in the aoudad (Ammotragus lervia) in
captivity. I worked as Research Associate for two years at the
Sub-Department of Animal Behaviour
in the University of Cambridge
(UK) in Prof. Pat Bateson's lab. Then I held several research contracts
at the Department of
Ecology of the Museo Nacional de
Ciencias Naturales (CSIC), in Madrid. After enjoying a Ramón
y Cajal contract, I obtained my CSIC tenured post at the IREC in 2008.
