Housing

1. Private accommodation in shared apartments:The principal search method is to arrive in the city where you will study, stay in a hostel for the first night or so (until you have secured housing), and look for housing announcements that are listed throughout the campus – mainly on bulletin boards, but also scattered about in other locations on campus.Through these announcements students that need housemates for the school year give a brief description of their apartment and a contact number to call.If needed, the ORI offices will help each student to make phone inquiries.

Note: At the Cuenca campus, when the student exchange periods are for 3-4 months it is often difficult to find private living accommodation.Because of this situation, whenever possible, we will try to arrange direct housing exchanges between Erasmus student participants.Direct exchanges mean that a UCLM student will go to study in a foreign city and will live in the apartment of a foreign student who, during the same period of time, will study at the UCLM and, consequently, live in the apartment of the UCLM student.In such exchanges, each student is responsible for the rent that he/she pays in her normal place of study.

If this direct exchange is not possible, UCLM Erasmus students often offer housing to foreign Erasmus students (not from the city where the UCLM student will study) for a period of time equal to that which the UCLM student will enjoy abroad.In order for these “indirect” exchanges to function, the participating students would have to ensure that their Erasmus study period durations coincide.UCLM students traditionally share apartments (and sometime rooms) and tend to pay between 90 and 120 € per month plus electricity, water, and gas.The ORI in Cuenca will put in-coming (international) Erasmus students in contact via email with those UCLM students that live in shared apartments.This way, the arriving student will be able to organize his/her arrival time with the future housemates.

2. Another way to look for private housing is through the "Bolsa de Vivienda Joven", a regional government service that organizes and posts housing announcements for the local area.It is recommended that the student contacts the "Bolsa" in the city where he/she will study, explaining the time of stay, time of arrival, type of housing required (individual or shared apartment), and price range desired.This way, the "Bolsa" will be able to present each student with the available housing options for consideration.

3. University Residences: The University of Castilla-La Mancha reserves a limited number of places in the University Residences of the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha for the participants in UCLM exchange programs. Applications must be made to the International Relations Offices of the UCLM before the commencement of the new academic year.
