History and structure of the UCLM

The University of Castilla-La Mancha was officially founded on the 30th of June 1982, with the merger of centres which corresponded to other university institutions and newly created centres.

Although the foundation goes back to 1982, it was not until October 1985 that the UCLM came into full existence. Its establishment represented the Region’s commitment to providing its own university system for more than a million and a half citizens who live in the 79.000 km2 territory.

The University of Castilla-La Mancha is a regional institution divided into four campuses: Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo, also extended to the cities of Almadén and Talavera de la Reina.
