List of available extra-academic activities

Tours around the city of Toledo

Organized by ESTO: 2 hours long, guided visits in Spanish (or English under request), with all tickets included.

  • Toledo Cathedral.
  • Synagogues of Santa María la Blanca and El Tránsito (Sefardí Museum).
  • Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes.
  • Cristo de la Luz Mosque.
  • Museums of El Greco and Victorio Macho.
  • Museum of the Army.

Tours around the unknown Toledo, organized by El Consorcio (cultural organization that restores / excavates abandonded or neglected places): Islamic Baths of Tenerías and El Cenizal; Roman Baths; Restoration Center of El Caballel; Mosque and well of El Salvador; Hercule's Caves, and so on.

Tours organized by Toledo's tourist office, guide included (depending on guides' availability; a high level of Spanish is required).

  • Gates and Walls Tour
  • River Tour: Casa del Diamantista, Torre del Hierro, Los Molinos.
  • Bridges and Towers Tour

Visit to the traditional patios (in May and June).

 Visits of social and cultural interest: Damasquinado (traditional carving of golden thread into black steel sheets); typical flea market; encaje de bolillos (traditional embroidery technique).

Sessions of Spanish contemporary cinema

Lessons of Spanish and/or Latin dance with a monitor. Belly dance is also available if the group is interested.

 Pass for using a gymnasium of Toledo (Fitness Center at Calle Roma 13). Any interested groups may request price-reduced passes.

Theater. On some occasions, students prepared little plays for farewell parties and so on.

Promotion of linguistic exchange with Spanish students.

Treasure hunt games. These are little fun games that can be organized on the group's arrival at the city in order for them to become familiarized with the city in an entertaining way, promoting linguistic interaction with the people of Toledo.

Story-telling sessions. These are workshops in which an actor narrates a story in such a way that students can understand it better and take part.

Lectures adapted to the level of Spanish of the students. For example: the European Union, Don Quixote; Spanish art; Spanish as an international language; immigration in Spain, and so on.

One-day trips to nearby interesting places: Tickets and lunch are included (except for Madrid). Possibilities:

  • Molinos de Consuegra; Route of Don Quijote
  • Madrid
  • El Aranjuez / El Escorial
  • Segovia
  • La Granja
  • Natural pools of Candeleda (Ávila)
  • Lakes of Ruidera (Ciudad Real)
  • Cuenca

Longer trips as a complement for the Spanish course. Sometimes we have organized this kind of trips, especially a route around Andalucía, visiting Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada.

Welcome and farewell parties. A little gathering to get in touch and have something to eat. It can include a little spectacle: flamenco, theater play, and so on.

Free or reduced pass for the swimming pool at Avenida Barber (only during the month of July; not guaranteed).
