Header of Cultural offer

The cultural offer is spread throughout the academic year, with programs which complement traditional academic education. The University earmarks economic funds for the promotion of cultural activities through various programs open to bids such as that of Cultural Support for UCLM’s Centers, Departments and Student Delegations (Central and Campus), and that of Subsidies for Cultural Activities. Conventions, courses and seminars on different, varied subjects enable our students to share experiences and benefit from the most prestigious Spanish and foreign scientists, scholars, businessmen and thinkers. Suffice it to remember, for example, the extensive series of activities scheduled by UCLM in 2005 on the occasion of the anniversary of Don Quixote’s publication.

UCLM has also laid heavy stakes on foreign languages, especially English, knowing that English is the vehicle of communication used by the great majority of citizens all over the world. To ease the way, UCLM has developed the “Learn English at Your Campus” Programme, aimed at all members of the university community. Likewise, as an experimental experience, a Programme to perform languages created for aiming to prepare future Erasmus students to acquire the adequate level of knowledge of the language spoken in the country of destination. Lastly, the Summer Course and Summer Culture programmes are scheduled at all the campuses and are living proof of the importance we attach to culture in every sense. Programs which are complemented by a rich cultural and social programme: exhibits, music, theater and cinema.

You won´t need to plan more than a good pair of shoes to cross the city from one end to the other. The best thing to do is to get lost in the lively nightlife areas and go into any one of the colourful spots in the maze of Toledo. However, at the weekend you will need to reserve a table, at the most popular restaurants. Over the past few years Toledo has recovered the cosmopolitan character that it was proud of for many centuries. There is practically nothing that cannot be found in the city: peaceful, Arab inspired, eclectic and minimalist bars, discos, salsa clubs and afterhours.
