Private housing

Private housing is usually in shared apartments. It is best to stay in a hotel while you conduct your search. There are a number of advertisements in and around the city and university of people looking for flatmates and you can also find apartments for rent in El Mercadillo newspaper.

It can sometimes be difficult to find private housing for short periods of 3-4 months on the Cuenca campus. The UCLM tries to arrange housing exchanges between Erasmus students. When this is not possible, Spanish Erasmus students often offer their housing to foreign Erasmus students who are coming to Spain for the same amount of time that they will be abroad. The students concerned need to arrange for their Erasmus scholarships to coincide in order for this housing exchange to work. The Office of International Relations in Cuenca will facilitate direct contact by email for those students who live in shared accommodation to enable them to organize their exchange/arrival.

Students can also look for private accommodation through the Bolsa de Vivienda Joven, a regional government service that lists housing offers. Students are recommended to get in contact with the Bolsa de Vivienda Joven in the city where he/she will be studying, explaining the length of their stay, the date of arrival, type of housing required (individual or shared) and price range desired. The “Bolsa” will then present the students with a list of available housing options. For further information, see: http://www.viviendajovenclm.com

Halls of Residence

The University Residence programme of the Castilla-La Mancha Communities Junta, with over 2,500 places at all UCLM’s campuses, is more than just an accommodation alternative. They are activity centers where you may take part in drama workshops, music, lectures, sports and leisure. It is important to point out that they allow you to reside at a reasonable price since they are subsidized by the Communities Junta. Moreover, there are private concerns which keep up a few other residences. If you are not satisfied by this option and are more free-spirited and independent, to rent or share an apartment, our students can use the services of the Castilla-La Mancha Youth Housing Bureau. A service totally free of charge in which you may obtain listings of private apartments for rent in the city where the Campus is located where you are going to carry out your studies.
