Header of Teaching and research Staff

In early 2009, the Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) approached the figure of 2,200 professors, assistants and lecturers. It is significant to point out that the number of UCLM teachers holding a doctorate degree at that point in time was over one thousand, indicating that over half of the full-time teaching staff had a doctor’s degree.

At the same time, the adaptation to the European Space for Higher Education in itself involves a greater transformation of awareness and mentality, which are necessary for the University to achieve an international projection enabling it to be ready to compete with other Spanish and foreign universities in a more and more complex scenario. We are in the position to affirm that we have achieved significant results with the mobility programs for professors, researchers and students, the exchange of knowledge and experiences as well as the transfer of resources. Nor have we forgotten and therefore go on playing a role of reference in the field of solidarity, contributing with aid programs for development within the framework of our international projection.

One of our challenges consists in improving our research capacity, with the recruitment of researchers and the consolidation of recognized groups, and of those appearing in the upcoming years. The investment in this area and the research projects with European, national and regional funds have enabled us to take a great leap in this field over the past few years, as has been recognized at different national forums. The achievements attained in the public R&D&I projects place it above other Spanish universities with a greater university tradition.
