GRANTS -APPLICATION FOR GRANTS IS CLOSED-

The Symposium Organization makes a limited number of registration and travel grants to attend this III TMW. Grants are available to people from the Developing World (see below), so that they may attend the Meetings and present their works, which have to be of special interesting for the Symposium. The Selection Process is HIGHLY COMPETITIVE. Funds for grants are limited with respect to the expected number of applications. We encourage the grant application for presenting excellent works within the Symposium Topics that provide novel points of view in TWM issues.

Grants of up to 1,000 € are available to fund attend the III International Symposium of Transboundary Waters Management. This includes the registration fee and part or whole travel costs. Grants will never be larger that the total cost associated with attending the III TWM.

Grants will be assigned and communicated by 10 February 2006. However the checks for the assigned award will be given during the Meeting celebration, so initial funds are required for each applicant to attend the Meeting. The Symposium Organization will reimburse the supported costs under justification (airline ticket, hotel reservation ...).

The applicant must:

• Submit an Abstract to the Symposium. The abstract must contain a precise description of the work that will be presented, with special emphasis on its novelty or importance for the Symposium audience. Works related with developing countries TWM issues, which study and analyze their problems and feed the TWM discussions, are considered priority.
• Email the Grant Application Form to the Symposium Secretary (twm@uclm.es) with the next subject: "III TWM Grant Application". The application must contain an explanation of how the Symposium will enhance your Research/Work, indicating the area/field, and a sort curriculum vitae. An expected budget for attending the Meeting must be included.
• Fax a copy of the availability of funding to attend the meeting. Supporting letters indicating that you have secured the funds or travel documentation (airline ticket, hotel reservation) is required. Authorization letters from a department head or the appropriate University official is also acceptable.

Value of the award
Up to 1,000 €, included registration fees.

Conditions
Applicants for a III TWM Travel Grant from Developing Countries must:

• Be a scientist and a citizen of a country that is classified as 'low-income economies' or 'lower-middle-income economies' according to the World Bank categorization. Applicants from countries classified as 'low-income economies' will have priority.
• Have at least a B.Sc. or equivalent degree.
• Be working or studying at a University or Research Institution (including field centres, NGOs, etc.) that provides basic research facilities.
